My name is Darrell Glover and I am an officer in the United States Air Force currently stationed at Beale AFB, California. I have been fortunate enough to live in a variety of places (see the map below) and see many more.
I have also been fortunate enough to share most of that journey with my wife and four children. I love hiking and camping and, in general, spending time together as family. I also love sports, especially coaching soccer. If I do not decide to teach, then I definitely plan to coach.
I am originally from Northern California and after graduating high school I enlisted in the United States Army. After four years and many adventures, I left the Army to finish my undergraduate degree at Fresno State University and then I joined the Air Force.
I was drawn to Michigan State because of the excellent academic reputation of its education program and because it can be done completely online! I do plan to teach as my next profession (yes, I believe teaching is a profession, not simply a job) when I eventually leave the crazy life of the military. I already have experience tutoring and love seeing the look on a student's face when something finally clicks.
I have immense respect for teachers and for the struggles they face to educate the future generations and, while not the sole path, I truly believe that education is a gateway to a better life. As such, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subjects will only become more important as the future becomes increasingly technological.
